A little about the founder...
Joe Caronna is the past President of the Hemophilia Association of New Jersey and is currently a trustee of the board. He has been an advocate in the hemophilia community since 1994 when his son, Alex, was diagnosed with Hemophilia.
At the Hemophilia Association of New Jersey, Joe spends time as a consumer advocate for the bleeding disorder community. In this role, he strives to ensure the safety of all blood products and to empower parents of children with bleeding disorders through education and support.
He serves on numerous hemophilia-related state and national consumer committees, which include blood safety, patient services, governmental affairs, new families and publicity and education. He speaks at state and local hospitals, schools, conferences and medical advisory board meetings and conducts training seminars for educators, medical staff and consumers. Joe also serves as the New Jersey consumer representative for the Blood and Safety consumer advisory panel and sits on the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association committee as a consultant for the Patient Notification System.
Today Alex, now ten years old, is a Cub Scout, and enjoys swimming, basketball, baseball and soccer. In addition, Alex often joins his father at speaking engagements.
Joe has been married to his wife, Cathy, for 14 years, and in addition to Alex, they have a daughter, Christina, who is nine years old. Joe has been in the computer industry for over twenty-five years and is currently a Regional Manager for the IBM Corporation.
A New York native, Joe currently lives in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
